Two research projects of the DFG collaborative research center 933 Material Text Cultures. Materiality and Presence of Writing in Non-Typographic Societies, projects A06 ( ) and B10 ( ), are hosting a collaborative graduate student workshop in February of 2017. The workshop, titled “Materiality as a challenge”, will consider the the late medieval codex (1200-1500) from the viewpoint of the basic historical sciences. The organizers are looking for contributions from a variety of areas, including but not limited to the history of writing, image studies, and the history of the book.
