Materiality and Presence of Writing in Non-Typographic Societies, projects A06 (The Paper Revolution in Late Mediaeval Europe.
Comparative Investigations into Changing Technologies and Culture in ‘Social Space’) and B10 (Rolls for the King. The Format of Rolls in Royal Administration and Historiography in the Late Middle Ages in Western Europe), are hosting a collaborative graduate student workshop in February of 2017. The workshop, titled “Materiality as a challenge”, will consider the the late medieval codex (1200-1500) from the viewpoint of the basic historical sciences. The organizers are looking for contributions from a variety of areas, including but not limited to the history of writing, image studies, and the history of the book.
