“Ad fontes”, an e-learning platform at the University of Zurich, is organizing a unique crowdsourcing event to digitize the Lexicon abbreviaturarum, compiled by Adriano Cappelli. They are looking for participants to help digitize and structure the 15,000 abbreviations documented in the “Cappelli” in a dedicated web interface. As of October 10, more than 2,500 abbreviations have already been digitized – but there is plenty more work to do. After completion, all data will be freely available (under a non-restrictive creative commons) license.
The Ad fontes Cappelli Hackathon will take place on October 22 from 2pm to 10pm. Participants can come to Zurich or join in virtually from afar. Watch the event trailer here and be sure to contact Ad fontes to sign up now!
