The organizers of the lecture series “Die Materialität von Schriftlichkeit – Bildung und Forschung im Dialog” have just announced the schedule for the upcoming academic year 2015/16. Initiated last year by the Berlin State Library and the research group “Arbeitskreis Materialität der Literatur”, the lecture series was very well received during its first round of talks.
The second installment starts on October 6 with a talk on Alexander von Humboldt’s travel journals by Jutta Weber and Tobias Kraft. Further topics include typography and book design, interactive children’s books, printing history in and beyond Europe, as well as the calligraphic work of the late Hermann Zapf.
