Research Grants at JFKI Library in Berlin

The library of the John F. Kennedy Institute for North American Studies at the Free University of Berlin offers research grants to allow scholars to work with the extensive holdings of the library on site in Berlin-Dahlem. There are both full stipends extending 4-6 weeks and grants for guest-status scholars who wish to work in the library between 2-4 weeks. The library of the JFKI has one of the best collections of materials concerning American history, literature, and culture outside of North America. One of the main treasures of the library is the special collection of North American newspapers, funded by the German Research Foundation.

Stipends are awarded twice a year to scholars affiliated with an institution from outside Germany, the U.S., and Canada. The next application deadline is October 31.

A detailed overview of the library’s collections, the grant schemes, and the application process can be found here: JFKI library research grant.
