The School of Language & Literature LiLi of the Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies FRIAS will hold its concluding colloquium “Zukünfte der Literaturwissenschaft” (futures of literary studies) from 17-19 October 2013. Organised by Werner Frick (Freiburg, LiLi Director) and Gesa von Essen (Freiburg, LiLi Scientific Coordinator), the colloquium addresses the following topics: the future of reading and book culture (Stephan Füssel, Mainz), text linguistics and hermeneutics (Andreas Kablitz, Köln), literary studies as cultural studies (Aleida Assmann, Konstanz), inter- and transdisciplinary narratology (Matías Martínez, Wuppertal) and literary theory (Simone Winko, Göttingen), empirical literary studies (Winfried Menninghaus, Berlin/Frankfurt a.M.), digital humanities (Fotis Jannidis, Würzburg) as well as impacts of globalisation on literature (Monika Schmitz-Emans, Bochum). Furthermore, there will be a round table on literary studies and its interaction with neighbouring disciplines.
